Into The Woods 2014

Tickets on sale now for Steven Sondheim’s fairytale classic – Into the Woods.
With a movie coming out this year starring Johnny Depp and Meryl Street, Swan Hill Theatre group wanted to get in first and give Swan Hill the chance to enjoy this reimagining of some well known fairytales.
A childless baker and his wife search for ingredients to help remove the curse placed on their house – a cow as white as milk, hair as yellow as corn, the slipper as pure as gold and the cape as red as blood.
This is a world where Cinderella lives next to Jack and his mother, Little Red Riding Hood skips through the same forest as Rapunzel and the evil Witch and a prince searches the forest for the maiden that runs away.
The first act takes the audience on the journeys we know and love with everyone searching for, and getting their happy ever after, but it is in bold, darker second act, that Sondheim looks at what happens after "happily ever after," elevating the musical into a whole new dimension.
Director, Adrian Corbett said “We wanted to something challenging for the theatre company and also was a fantastic show for Swan Hill to enjoy.”
“Tickets are now on sale, but from past shows they will sell out quickly, so I am advising people to buy their tickets soon, because this is one show they will not want to miss.”
What does one do with a dead Giant in the back yard? Does marrying a Prince really lead to a happy and fulfilling life? Is carving up the wolf the solution? Is a Giant always wrong?
By the final scenes, with the one-two punch of the score's two most enduring songs, "No One Is Alone" and "Children Will Listen," what began as a clever diversion will touch deeper nerves and tears to flow.
