October Newsletter

Hello all, it seems that I have been really slack on updating you with what is happening at the theatre. So I will try and fill you in on everything that is happening. Hopefully if today pans out I will also try and get the website up to date too. I will try and update facebook as much as possible too.

Our Musical Chicago was a great success and I am sure all who saw the show would totally agree. Congratulations to all who were involved, I know we mentioned this in the last newsletter but I think it is worth mentioning again. Since the success of Chicago we have also had the Jungle book Kids

The Jungle Book Kids
WOW what a fantastic effort from everyone here what a great September that was had at the Swan Hill Theatre Group. The auditions took place with lots and lots of kids taking part. Unfortunately not everyone can get a part but the ones who did, did a fantastic job. Verlie, Erin and Tess did an amazing job in such a short time to pull together a magical show of The Jungle Book Kids. To the WHOLE cast & crew congratulations on a job well done. How to Train your Husband.......
This is the name of the next adult play to be staged in November. There will be 7 performances, starting Thursday October 31st, Friday November 1st Saturday November 2nd, Sunday November 3rd, Tuesday November 5th Thursday November 7th and Friday November 8th. Tickets are now ON SALE at the Swan Hill Information Centre. You can book on line at www.swanhillonline.com.au or just go into the Information centre and the lovely ladies their will gladly take your money and give you a ticket. Once the show “How to train your Husband is finished we are starting again. One of our younger members has written a musical which will be performed in January.

The Princess and the Swineherd
The Princess and the Swineherd has been written by Emily Smith and Directed by Father, Daughter team Emily and Dale Smith. This production will be performed at the Memorial Theatre from January 16th -25th 2014.
Auditions will be held Sunday 20th October.
Females 10.00am Males 1.00pm
Adults and students from Year 7 and above are invited to audition for this exciting new production.
Auditionees are to sing a song from a musical of their choosing, without music. Choose a song that suits your voice and one that you know the lyrics to.

Singing Group
Verlie has been successful in getting a singing group organised below is a flyer which she has included with more information on it.

Relay for Life
“Acting Up” Is the name of the relay for life team headed up by Heidi Holland, to be held October 18th & 19th. If you would like to be a part of this fun team please contact Heidi via facebook or phone.

April 5th 2014 Deb Ball
The Theatre Group are hosting their inaugural Debutante Ball, April 5th at the Swan Hill Town Hall. This is going to be a fundraiser for the Theatre. If you would like to help on the night please contact Trudy Rose, either by email, facebook or phone. sarbray@bigpond.com or 0409 853 549 we have all of our Debs organised, and things are coming along nicely. We will need help on the night so if you can spare a few hours, it would be greatly appreciated.

Our Musical to be performed in June next year will be Into the Woods. This show will be produced and Directed by, Nathan Butler, Adrian Corbett and Nikki Arnott. Stay tuned for more details as they come to hand.

SHTG Singing Group/Choir- If you haven’t already heard! We now have our own singing group which meets fortnightly at the Theatre on a Wednesday night from 8pm – 9pm. Our last get together was Wednesday October 9th. We have had a fantastic response with men and women ranging from their 20s to 70s - past and present members as well as people who have had no prior involvement with the theatre group attending. If you are 18 or over and would like to join us you will be made very welcome. $2 to cover expenses and we even offer tea/coffee and biscuits afterwards. The lovely theatre group members who are and will be leading us in song include Andrew Kelly, Janette Vallance, Janine Spry, and Nikki Arnott. More info ring Verlie 50331053
